What is IPIP?

The International Personality Item Pool (IPIP) is a scientific collaboratory for the development of advanced measures of personality and other individual differences. The IPIP provides public-domain personality test items and scales that can be used for research and educational purposes.

All IPIP items and scales are in the public domain and may be used without restriction. The project was created to provide researchers and educators with free access to personality assessment materials.

About This Website

This website is a modern recreation of the original IPIP project (ipip.ori.org). It provides:

  • A searchable database of 3,200+ personality items
  • Multi-language support with translations in 30+ languages
  • Complete preservation of the original IPIP archive
  • Modern, accessible interface with mobile support

All original content has been preserved without modification. The archive contains technical documentation, scoring guides, research papers, and translation files from the original project.

This is a static website with no backend server. All test-taking and scoring happens entirely in your browser:

  • No data is sent to any server
  • Test progress is saved locally in your browser
  • Results are stored only on your device
  • You can export your results at any time
  • Clearing your browser data will delete all saved tests
